Not excuses, reality

Valerie Strauss has important points to make about the absence of poverty from the school reform narrative that has been dominant in the media and school reform policies lately. She notes that today President Obama and Matt Lauer jumped over the issue of poverty in favor of a school reform narrative that rests on charters, teacher quality, and accountability. Let's hope that the education reform debate can expand to include all the factors that impact outcomes for students.
